Refund and Return Policy

Effective date: August 4, 2026

Thank you for shopping with Cortleigh & Sumac. This Refund and Return Policy explains our voluntary change-of-mind return program and the process for reporting defective, damaged or incorrectly supplied products.

1. Change-of-Mind Returns

Ontario law does not generally require retailers to accept returns or exchanges simply because a customer has changed their mind. Cortleigh & Sumac nevertheless offers eligible customers a voluntary 30-day return period.

To request a change-of-mind return, contact us within 30 calendar days after the product was delivered.

To qualify, the product must:

Be unworn, unused, unwashed and in its original condition;
Have all original tags, labels and protective packaging attached;
Be free from odours, cosmetics, marks, pet hair and other signs of use;
Be suitable for resale; and
Be accompanied by valid proof of purchase.

2. Products Excluded from Change-of-Mind Returns

Unless defective, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise returnable under applicable law, we do not accept change-of-mind returns for:

Underwear, hosiery and intimate apparel;
Swimwear where the hygiene seal has been removed;
Earrings or pierced jewellery;
Personalized, monogrammed, altered or made-to-order products;
Gift cards;
Products marked as final sale before purchase; or
Products damaged through misuse, improper care or normal wear and tear.

3. Defective, Damaged or Incorrect Products

If a product arrives damaged, has a manufacturing defect, is materially different from its description or is not the product ordered, contact us promptly after discovering the issue.

Please provide your order number, a description of the problem and, where reasonably helpful, photographs of the product and packaging.

We may request that the product be returned for assessment. If the claim is accepted, we will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include repair, replacement, refund or another remedy required by applicable law.

Cortleigh & Sumac will cover reasonable return shipping costs for a confirmed defective, damaged or incorrectly supplied product.

4. Starting a Return

To request a return, email returns@cortleighandsumac.ca or call +1 416-555-0187.

Include your name, order number, the product being returned and the reason for the request. If approved, we will send return instructions and the appropriate return destination.

Products sent without authorization may experience processing delays and may be returned to the sender where permitted by law.

5. Return Shipping

Customers are responsible for return postage and transit risk for voluntary change-of-mind returns. We recommend using a tracked and insured shipping service.

Original delivery charges are not normally refunded for change-of-mind returns. This does not apply where reimbursement is required by law or the return results from our error.

6. Inspection and Refunds

After receiving the returned product, we will inspect it and notify you whether the refund has been approved.

Approved refunds will ordinarily be issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days after inspection. Your bank, card issuer or payment provider may require additional processing time.

If a returned product does not satisfy the conditions of our voluntary change-of-mind policy, we may decline the refund and contact you regarding available options.

7. Exchanges

Exchanges are subject to product and size availability. In some cases, the quickest option is to return the original product and place a separate order for the replacement.

8. Promotions and Gift Cards

Refunds for products purchased with a discount will be based on the amount actually paid. Gift cards are not redeemable for cash except where required by law.

9. Statutory Rights

This policy does not exclude, restrict or replace any right or remedy available under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002, the Sale of Goods Act or other applicable legislation.
